No trip across country is complete without checking out the Jolly Green Giant statue found in Blue Earth, SD. Becky found it for us.
Today was another great day. We started off the day with a great breakfast at the Residence Inn in Bloomington, MN. We took a short drive to the SPAM Museum..yes there is an entire museum devoted to the "meat" SPAM. We had never had it before so of course we bought some and added it to our dinner menu which consisted of chili and baked ziti brought from home...a dinner fit for queens and kings! We did drive through a little bit of bad weather in MN-- the clouds were pretty scary looking. I also noticed tons of cornfields again and every farm was surrounded by a grove of trees.
After seeing everything we would ever want to know about SPAM and the Giant, we headed to Sioux Falls. A nice town with equally nice people. We have to remember to add 15 minutes onto every outing because everyone wants to make small talk about everything! We had a 10 min conversation with a man whose job it is to stand at the gas station and make sure noone needs any help...interesting, huh?
Tomorrow is a big day..6 HR drive to Rapid City and on our way we plan to stop at a large corn palace, Badlands Nat'l Park and Wall, SD. I'll have to see how we hold up.. we may have to skip something.
We will watch some fireworks to end our terrific July 4th! Hope everyone had an equally wonderful 4th. I am learning firsthand what a wonderful country we live in.
The girls continue to test out the pool in every hotel and having a wonderful time. Their big plan is to try to have the pool to themselves. They've done a pretty good job with that.
