DAY 21

We can start heading east now!! We saw the coveted Hollywood sign. I think this may have made Becky's trip! We got to LA at 10:30 AM and went straight to La Brea Tarpits. Pretty cool place. Thousands of years ago the area was filled with "tar". Animals, like Mammoths and wolves wouls get stuck in the tar and die. This is the largest active excavation site within a city in the world. The archeologists have found millions of bones. They have found 1500 wolf skulls and whole mammoths too. After the tarpits, we walked the famed Hollywood Blvd and looked at the stars on the Walk of Fame. We also went to Graumans and checked out the footprints and handprints of many famous people. It was nostalgic to me to see the cement blocks of people who have passed away. We had lunch at a Disney ice cream shoppe and took pictures of the Hollywood sign. It was a great day. I was worried about driving in the city, but it turned out not to be a problem at all. Our hotel tonight is just outside Huntington Beach - about 35 miles outside of LA. It's beautiful here. Tomorrow we will just be driving to Las Vegas and we will stay there 2 nights. I can't believe we will be travelling east now. I guess we could say that we are on our way home.
